SURVIVORS RISING: NATIONAL LEADERS, ARTISTS, ACTIVISTS, AND SURVIVORS RELEASE COLLECTIVE VIDEO CALLING FOR JUSTICE, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND HEALING

New Video Launches “Disrupt the Injustice: 60 Million Survivors Rising” Campaign and Builds Toward National Day of Action on September 26

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On June 7, the Survivors Rising Initiators released “Survivors Rising,” a powerful collective video statement featuring survivors, artists, activists, journalists, faith leaders, and public figures standing together in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence and calling for justice, accountability, and healing.

The video premiered on the opening day of the annual conference hosted by World Without Exploitation, the national coalition working to support survivors impacted by sexual exploitation and trafficking, including survivors connected to Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse network.

Featuring voices including V (formerly Eve Ensler), Kimberlé Crenshaw, Anita Hill, Ashley Judd, Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, Maria Hinojosa, Mahogany L. Browne, Jacqui Lewis, Mily Treviño-Sauceda, Latosha Brown, Ash-Lee Woodard Henderson, Aisha Becker-Burrowes, Ky Polanco, Pat Mitchell, Patti Giggans, Tanya Selvaratnam, Monica Simpson, Kai Cheng Thom, and others*, the video is a collective response to what organizers describe as a moment of profound and deepening impunity.

In the video, participants declare:
“There are more than 60 million survivors in the United States. We are coming together across communities, movements, and generations to say that the time has come for justice, accountability, and healing. We will not stop until the violence stops.”

“We stand with the Epstein survivors. We stand with survivors across this country still fighting for justice, healing, recognition, and accountability. And we stand with survivors who remain silent, afraid of the risks of speaking out.”

The release comes amid growing concern about violence against women and gender-expansive people, including rising rates of domestic violence, online sexual exploitation, AI-generated sexual abuse imagery, attacks on reproductive and LGBTQ+ rights, and ongoing frustration over the lack of accountability for powerful perpetrators.

The video marks the launch of Disrupt the Injustice: 60 Million Survivors Rising, a national organizing effort to mobilize support for survivors and build toward a nationwide day of action on Saturday, September 26, when communities across the country will gather in solidarity with survivors and demand justice, accountability, healing, and transformation.

According to the United Nations and the World Health Organization, one in three women worldwide will experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime—more than 60 million women in the United States and more than one billion women globally. Transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive people experience even higher rates of violence and harassment.

Organizers are inviting individuals and organizations nationwide to sign the statement, share the video, and participate in upcoming organizing efforts.
